Democrats Question Effectiveness Of President Trump’s Plan To Lower Medicare Co-Pays
Many Democrats are opposing President Donald Trump's efforts to have Medicare and private insurers include rebates in their calculations of drug prices, which could lower co-pays for consumers.  They say the plan would accomplish little. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass) said that she and Senator Tina Smith (D., Minn) had sent letters to several large drugmakers asking if they have agreed to lower drug prices.  Contrary to what the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex Azar, has said

Medicare CoPays Could Come Down If President Trump’s Efforts Are Successful
In an effort to bring down prescription drug prices, President Donald Trump is testing the limits of a law which prohibits the government from interfering in negotiations between drug manufacturers and Medicare and private insurance companies.  He proposes requiring insurers to reduce retail drug prices to reflect the discounts that they receiver from drug manufacturers.  President Trump says that “rebates” given by pharmaceutical companies could in fact be viewed as illegal kickbacks.  Drug

Hospice Patients Win Key Ruling In Right To Die Case
Many hospice patients rejoiced after The Fourth Districe Court of Appeals reversed a ruling by a judge who on May 25 ruled the right-to-die law was enacted illegally during a special legislative session on health care.  It had been in effect since June of 2016.  The law requires two doctors to certify that a patient will die within six months and is mentally competent to choose death.  In this case, the physician can prescribe a lethal overdose.

Taking Early Social Security Benefits Can Have Severe Negative Long Term Financial Consequences
Taking Social Security early, at the age of 62, is certainly tempting.  However, it can have sever negative consequences to your long-term retirement benefits.   Benefits at the age of 62 are only three-quarters of what they would be if you claimed them at your full retirement age.  And with people living longer, this will be extremely important if you live into your 90’s or even 100 or more.  https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-one-reason-you-should-claim-social-security-at-62-1528383432

LTC Long Term Care Insurance Sellers Get Creative
I have written many times on my blog about the importance of getting Long Term Care Insurance (LTC) while you can.  Many insurers have pulled out of the market and rates have skyrocketed.  However, it’s the only type of insurance that pays for the type of services that my company provides, allowing you to stay independent in your own home.  Without LTC, you risk being forced onto Medicaid and into a nursing home.  I was glad to read the headline in The Wall Street Journal entitled,
